The inside of the shade is painted white so that the light is reflected brightly from the shade.

Jean-Louis Domecq founded the company in the 1950s, and to this day Jieldé's lights are manufactured in Saint Priest, near Lyon. Each lamp of the manufacturer has a small plaque with the manufacturing number on the shade, which identifies it as an original made in France.
