Comment from Hajime Tanno regarding the creation of Gudon: I am truly honored to have something I created lined up among the products of the KAIJU REMIX SERIES that I have long admired. When I was in high school, I remember being deeply shocked when KRS was first released, as it presented a completely new way of interpreting kaiju. Nowadays, arranged kaiju designs have become something familiar, but originally it felt like a sacred domain allowed only to the original creators.
This series is one of the origins of that democratization. As someone standing at the far end of that lineage, I approached this Gudon with sincerity. From my memories at the time, the Gudon soft vinyl figure had a very upright silhouette when viewed from the side, which always caught my attention as a child.
I believe that the arched lower back, the slightly weary forward-thrust neck, and the gentle S-curve form the core of what makes Gudon recognizable. In this version, I retained those elements while remixing them with my own style. I intentionally restrained excessive volume exaggeration, instead focusing on rearranging surface details and adding imagery inspired by insects that live underground, reflecting its nature as a subterranean monster.
